As of the upcoming major release allowing for line-item attachments, classified attachments and an increase of attachment size to 10MB each for MTML integrations there will be a series of performance and security enhancements.

Improved Performance with Links

When you upgrade to MTML 1.9, all attachments (both header and line) will be received as links. Sending and receiving attachments as encoded documents will no longer be supported.

With the upcoming support for line-item attachments and consideration for usage with Inventory of Hazardous Materials we anticipate the number of attachments received will increase. This change will ensure that no matter how many attachments you receive, your download will remain performant. As this will apply to both header and line-item attachments your download overall will be lighter overall with improved performance.

If you’re using MTMLLink-FX, when you upgrade to the latest version (6.0) all your attachments will download directly to the specified directory. Line-item attachments will be downloaded into subdirectories for each line-item.

Protecting your data with Authenticated Attachments

To ensure your transactions remain secure all line-item attachments will be behind a layer of authentication. This means that your line-item attachments will be protected behind a login and never be publicly visible. If you’ve upgraded to MTMLLink-FX 6.0 the application will handle authentication on download for you.

If you’re using earlier versions MTMLLink-FX (5.7.x or lower) line-item attachments will only be accessible via the generated line-item attachments printable included in your header attachments.

The line-items attachment printable will only display line-items that have attachments. When you click on an attachment link the ShipServ login screen will open on your browser. Enter your username and password to download the attachment.

Note: The login screen will look different for header and line-item attachments. Use the same username and password as normal. If you can’t remember what your username and password is, get in touch with our support team.

Not using MTMLLink-FX or using the API?

If you’re not using MTMLLink-FX, when you upgrade to MTML 6.0 or Order Management API 2.0 you’ll be required to authenticate to download attachments.

Authenticated Header Attachments

To ensure that your existing integrations are not impacted authentication on header attachments remains optional, although highly advised. If you’d like to opt-in reach out to our support team.

Can’t remember your username and password?

If you already know your login to TradeNet used to download your header attachments, you can use the same login for your line-item attachments. Please note that the login page will look different.

If you’ve already onboarded onto the ShipServ New Platform and have user accounts, you can use your regular user login credentials to access line-item attachments.

If you can’t remember your TradeNet login details and haven’t onboarded to ShipServ New Platform you’ll need to register. The process takes just a few minutes! We recommend having separate user accounts to ensure that you can manage access rights and permissions. To get started, nominate an admin and get in touch with our support team. We’ll send you an invite and once the admin has set up their account, they can invite other users too from company user settings.
