About the IMPA Marine Stores Guide
Search
The Home tab is the screen you see when ShipServ Onboard opens, and is designed to work very much like ShipServ Pages, the world's leading online commercial marine search engine. Enter a search term (i.e.: "flashlight", a part number, an IMPA code, a brand name, etc.), and if desired, a geographic location (country or port). Then click the red Search button. [Note, you will need to use the mouse, tab or enter key to reach the "Search" button.]

Search Results
When a search has been conducted, the system will return a series of companies whose profile information and/or products match the search criteria.

· Clicking on a company name will bring up the detailed profile information on the company.

· Clicking on an item in the parts list (if applicable) will bring up the product profile detail.
Refining Results
Use the choices on the left side of the search results to narrow down the results.

Switch to Catalog View
ShipServ Onboard detailed product catalogs. If you are familiar with the previous ShipCat program, or if you would like to browse the list of available catalogs to drill down, simply click the "Browse" tab on the left side of the screen. You can search within the catalog by clicking the blue magnifying glass tool.

Add to Requisition
A product in one of the electronic catalogs may be pulled into a ShipServ requisition by clicking the green Add button in the search results.

Requisition
ShipServ Onboard's requisitioning functionality (a.k.a. ShipLink) allows the user to create requisitions and send them to the purchasing department. There is a detailed help program devoted specifically to requisitioning that can be accessed from within the requisitioning program.
Profile
The Profile tab allows for basic user registration information. If you are using ShipServ Onboard as a reference tool, then the information on this form is all you need to fill out. If you plan to use the requisitioning tool as well, you can reach a more detailed registration form by clicking where it says, “Click HERE to launch advanced requisition profile editor”.
Viewing the IMPA Marine Stores Guide
You can search for an IMPA code in the "Search for" box or you can browse the entire IMPA Marine Stores Guide by tapping the IMPA Marine Stores Guide box in the upper right corner. The IMPA catalog folder structures will be shown in the Catalog Browse panel, allowing you to expand (by clicking the "+"s) or collapse the folders (by clicking the "-"s).

What is the Marine Stores Guide?
The Marine Stores Guide is the marine industry’s most widely-used reference guide for maritime purchasing and supply.
The Marine Stores Guide in its original format was first published in 1978 and since then nearly 110,000 copies have been distributed.
IMPA is the International Marine Purchasing Association and is the leading association for marine purchasing and supply professionals. IMPA promotes and facilitates cooperation and understanding between purchasers and suppliers in the global maritime business (www.impa.net). Since 1993 IMPA has been the joint publisher of the Guide.
What items are included in the Guide?
The current 7th edition contains over 50,000 unique six-digit codes. Products are divided into 34 different categories ranging from clothing to paint and electric tools to machinery equipment.
The book (€190) is available from a number of worldwide distributors (http://marinestoresguide.com/distributors.php). Complimentary access to the electronic catalogue version of the Marine Stores Guide is included with ShipServ Onboard, and on ShipServ Search.
The guide in its printed format is updated approximately every five years (most recently 2018). Electronic updates occur more frequently.
How can I get the unique six-digit code on my IT system?
