Introduction
This article will talk you through how you can setup your ShipServ profile to best demonstrate your company's efforts around Sustainable trade.
This easy-to-use addition to ShipServ allows you to explain in some detail how your company approaches Sustainability and ESG concepts, and keep your customers up to date with how you are progressing.
Finding the Sustainability settings in your profile
You can find the settings for the 'Sustainability' tab within the settings menu in the Profile section
💥 Note: Only Administrators can make changes to the profile
Mission Statement
The first item on the list is your Mission Statement, which is a place for you to describe in some detail about your company's strategy and goals, allowing your customers to get a feel for your approach to Sustainability.

Certification
You can add your ISO certificate information, including the certification number and expiry dates. This shows that you have implemented approved management systems that have been by an organisation accredited to carry out ISO audits. You will only be able to choose ISO 14001 as having an Environmental Manage System in place is seen as an important part of contributing to Sustainability.
💥 Note! Having a valid ISO 14001 certificate will help people find you more easily. In Search, you will see on your profile a label called 'Committed to Sustainability'
UNGC Participation
If you are a Signatory or Participant of the UNGC (United Nations Global Compact) and you want to proudly show this off to your customers, we've got your back! We will display the official 'We support' UNGC logo on your profile as long as we have record of your active participation.
And you don't need to worry about filling this bit out, we get the information periodically from the UNGC directly as to who is and who is not active and to what tier level they are engaged with.
However, if you want to make some changes, you are able to change this yourself...

💥 Note! Like the ISO 14001 accreditation, being a member of The UNGC will help people find you more easily. In Search, you will see on your profile a label called 'Committed to Sustainability'
Commitments
We currently support the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as one of the ways of displaying your various commitments. You can add which goals align with your organisation and add a short statement on what it is you are doing to try and hit that goal.
Click 'Add SDG Commitment'
Choose one of the SDGs from the list and add your statement

💥 Note! It's important to describe how you intend to progress towards this goal so that others can chart how you are getting on.

🙋♂️ Q&A 🙋♀️
Q. Why is it only that those companies with ISO Certification and UNGC membership who receive the 'Committed to Sustainability' Badge?
A. We want to promote those organisations that have formally committed to a recognised program or system that is focused on environmental issues. However, if you have some feedback on this please let us know.
Q. As a buyer, how can I be sure that information on a suppliers' profile related to Sustainability is accurate?
A. We will not be carrying out any verification steps at this time, but we know that our suppliers will do their best to portray the most precise image of their business to the outside world.
Q. I am not a member of UNGC, but am a member of another recognised organisation that focuses on Environment, Corporate and Social Governance (ESG). Can this be shown on my profile too?
A. This is the start of our journey and we are excited to collaborate with any other established organisation with a focus on Sustainability. Please send us your suggestions of other great companies we can work with.
Q. There are other ISO certificates that contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, why can't I add those?
A. According to the ISO website, there are thousands of standards that can be linked to the UN's SDGs in some way. Not all of them are focused on environmental issues so we simply cannot track them all. ISO14001 is the most relevant standard for Sustainability.
