Guidelines for creating your Cover Image graphics

💥 Supplier must have a Cover Image subscription to upload a cover image.

This article contains two sections:

  1. Creating your cover image - content requirements and recommendations

  2. Uploading the cover image

Content guidelines - requirements and recommendations

Requirements

  • JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha)

  • Max 1mb file size

  • Image size desktop: 1400px wide x 312px high

  • Image size mobile: 640px wide x 312px high

  • Desktop version is mandatory, Mobile is optional. If Mobile is not provided, we will resize the desktop file accordingly.

Artwork Recommendations

We highly recommend making an informative graphic that conveys the essence of the products and services you provide.

  • Keep prominent visuals and the focal point towards the center of the graphic:

  • Avoid running into cut-off zones (15% from all four edges). If your branding is in the cut-off zones (the red areas marked with an "x" in the example below), it may be cut off. Depending on the UI format, resolution of the user's screen, size of user's screen and zoom level, the outer edges may be cropped. Try to keep the important information/images in the grey area, out of the red area.

Items outlined in orange (the “back to search results” button, logo, company name, and “contact supplier” button) are superimposed over your cover image.

Examples:

  • Avoid any form of taglines.

  • Avoid using white backgrounds where possible (see above "ShipServ" sample cover images as good examples to use)

  • Restrict background elements to the edges of the graphic.

  • Consider using more vibrant colours in your graphics to build interest and excitement, and avoid using pure white or dark grey.

  • Use a similar or complementary colour theme and style in the feature graphic to your logo, so users can immediately associate them with your brand.

  • Avoid any content that suggests price and promotional information.

  • Avoid time-sensitive content that can become outdated quickly to reduce the need to update.

  • Avoid overloading the graphic with fine details. These will not be visible on many phone screens.

  • Avoid inappropriate or repetitive image elements, such as: Third-party trademarked characters or logos without proper permission.

Don't forget, before uploading your cover image it is important to note that it will be displayed on mobile as well as desktop. For this reason we recommend that you follow the below guidelines when preparing your imagery.

Uploading the Cover Image

Suppliers with a valid subscription can upload your cover image file.

For best results, we recommend you upload both a Desktop and Mobile version of your image. At a minimum, the desktop version must be uploaded. Where only the desktop version is provided, we will automatically scale your imagery for use on a mobile device. Should you need to replace the imagery, clicking on the pencil icon will allow you to upload a new file.

Log into ShipServ and click on Settings and then Profile. In the About tab, if you scroll down, you will see a place to upload your cover image.
