General Questions
Do I have to classify the type of attachment?
If you’re using our Trade Application, you’ll be asked to categorise the type of document when you upload it. The new Document Library will mean that you’ll only ever need to upload a document once. Click here for more details about the Document Library.
If you integrated it’s optional, although highly recommended. If you don’t classify your document it will be auto-classified as ‘Unspecified’.
Click here for full details on how classification works in both the Trade Application and for Integrations.
How do I manage my attachments efficiently with the Trade Application?
The new Documents Library makes it easy to manage and attach documents to your transactions. This also suggests what attachments are relevant based on what line-item you previously attached it to making is quicker for suppliers to Quote and Confirm orders! Click here for full details on the Documents Library.
Integration Related Questions
Do Integrated Clients have to update their integration?
Some functionality is supported without any changes to existing integrations. To get full functionality what needs to be done and how much effort is involved depends on the clients set-up. Click here for full details.
Do I have to update my integration to send attachments 10mb each?
If you're integrated with the API, you can already send attachments up to 10mb each.
If you use MTMLLink-FX then you need to update the application to Version 6.0. If you use the
WebService directly, you'll need to update MTML Standard Version 2.0 and use the new Methods.
For full details click here.
How do I receive line-item attachments without updating my integration?
We'll generate a line-item attachment printable (PDF) which will be added to your header attachments. Header attachments will download in the usual manner (no change).
This PDF will contain links to all the line-item attachments. When you tap on a link you'll need to log into ShipServ and the attachment will download. Click here for more details.

Why do I have to enter my password when downloading line-item attachments?
We keep clients data protected behind a layer of authentication. This includes their attachments. For more information why we're keeping line-item attachments secure, click here.
Note: Having header attachments authenticated is currently an optional configuration. Most clients are opted in. In order to ensure current integrations are not impacted, we have not done changes to how you download header attachments.
How do I login to view my line-item attachments?
If the client knows their TradeNet (eSSM) username and password then they can continue to use this. Please note the login page will look different (new platform login).
If the client does not remember their TradeNet credentials, then they will need to be onboarded to the New Platform. It takes just a few minutes! This will offer them much more security on their transactional data giving them the ability to manage permissions and access rights at a user level. Onboarding to the new platform will also give them immediate access to new features coming soon like 'Chat' without having to onboard later…
For more information, click here.
Note: Header attachments links will continue to be served from legacy (TradeNet/eSSM). In order to ensure current integrations are not impacted, we have not done changes to how you download header attachments.
Will clients trading from multiple TNIDs login to one master account?
No. Currently the new platform supports individual tenant logins only. This does mean that they will need to have their user accounts linked to all applicable tenants. They won't have to log out and log in again as the user is the same for all tenants.
As part of the wider migration plan, we will be creating single master accounts where you can see multiple tenant transactions in a single place.
How do I classify attachments without updating my integration?
When you send attachments, you can classify attachments (both header and line-item) using the filename of the attachment you send.
When you receive attachments, the document type (e.g. Materials Declaration) will be prepended to the attachment filename.

Who is allowed access to the API?
Enterprise members get access our APIs included in their ShipServ membership. Full paying Trade Business members can have access to our APIs at no additional cost (an introductory offer).
Why are we promoting the API so much?
APIs are a modern and standard way of integrating. They are less complex and offer a lot more flexibility. They can also be integrated to more than just clients systems - such as BI software, MS Excel, Teams and more!
With this release, many clients will want to update their integration. This gives us an opportunity to let them know we have an API.
Over the next years we'll be doing quick and frequent enhancements to our APIs as well as a lot of enhancements only be available via the API. For instance, the ability to support Supplier Part Number as a separate field in your system. We'll always continue to support core fundamental order management functionality for MTML integrations.
Can I integrate with your API instead of MTML and how do I get access?
Yes, in-fact we recommend it. Click here for the full API developer documentation for the Order Management API. We also have lots more API endpoints that may be of interest - click here for an overview of all our APIs.
What's our partner system strategy?
We’ve teamed up with SpecTec to introduce this functionality in the upcoming version of AMOS. We're also in early conversations with ShipNet. Tristan is actively seeking how we work with partners further.
If clients are looking to upgrade quickly… suggest a DIY integration with our Order Management API! Click here for the API developer documentation.
Can ShipServ do the upgrade to my system?
No. We recommend using our API for your own DIY integration. ShipServ does not offer consultancy services at this moment.
