SmartSupplier to Trade Business FAQs
Why are we changing SmartSupplier?
There are lots of improvements we want to make to provide a next generation platform that maximises our customers’ productivity and drives new levels of transaction efficiency.
We've built Trade Business using the latest tools and it is hosted in the cloud on the market leading Microsoft Azure platform. This delivers a host of advantages to you – now and in the future.
When will we be changing from SmartSupplier to Trade Business?
All SmartSuppliers will be switched to Trade Business in 2020.
Your specific switch over date will be communicated in advance via email. We are not able to provide you more information about your specific switchover date at this time.
Do I have to change from SmartSupplier to Trade Business?
Yes. Throughout the transition period you can continue to use SmartSupplier until we switch it off. However, we strongly encourage you to use Trade Business for all your transactions.
What are the main advantages of Trade Business?
Trade Business provides a much faster experience and offers better usability with a new design. Being hosted in the cloud and not on your computer means you can access it anywhere, on any device, including Macs, tablets and mobiles phones.
With a cloud based product we'll be able to deliver continuous and regular enhancements.
Do I need to download an app to operate Trade Business on a mobile device?
No, just open your browser and go to Trade. There is no application to download onto your device.
How do I set up access to Trade Business?
First, we'll send you an invite to your trading email. The first user to register will be assigned as an admin. User accounts should be individual professional email addresses, not shared accounts.

Will my current SmartSupplier login details work in Trade Business?
No. You will need to create a new account to set up access to Trade Business. Your new account should be your individual professional email addresses, not a shared account.
How much does it cost to change from SmartSupplier to Trade Business?
Nothing! Your existing SmartSupplier subscription will be applied to Trade.
Will I be able to switch between SmartSupplier and Trade Business?
We don't recommend it as it may cause syncing issues. Throughout the transition period you will still continue to have access to SmartSupplier.
Can I use SmartSupplier and Trade Business at the same time? Are the two systems kept in sync?
SmartSupplier and Trade Business are mostly in sync, but some information is not displayed in both systems. For example, the assigned owner in Trade Business will not be shown in SmartSupplier. We strongly recommend once invited your company only uses Trade Business.
Will my previous transactions have the transaction owner assigned?
Yes. Any transactions you did prior to Trade Business will display the transaction owner previously defined. This is a read only and can be assigned to a new Trade Business user if you wish.
Can my company have more than one administrator?
Yes, you can have as many administrators as you wish.

Is Trade Business just another name for SmartSupplier?
Yes, however Trade will no longer be a standalone product instead embedded within the new ShipServ Platform. The main core features are the same, but we’ve made a number of improvements. Read about the improvements here.
Will you be making improvements to Trade Business over time?
Yes. We'll gather customer feedback and improve the most popular features over time. We endeavour to always put your needs, as the customer, first.
