StartSupplier to Trade Basic FAQs
Why are we changing StartSupplier?
There are lots of improvements we want to make to provide a next generation platform that maximises our customers’ productivity and drives new levels of transaction efficiency.
We've built Trade Basic using the latest tools and it is hosted in the cloud on the market leading Microsoft Azure platform. This delivers a host of advantages to you – now and in the future.
When will we be changing from StartSupplier to Trade Basic?
All StartSuppliers will be switched to Trade Basic in 2020.
Your specific switch over date will be communicated two weeks in advance via email. We are not able to provide you more information about your specific switchover date at this time.
What are the main advantages of the Trade Basic?
With a new look and feel, Trade Basic provides a much more intuitive, user-friendly experience. Also, because it is in the cloud it's more secure.
Do I have to change from StartSupplier to Trade Basic?
Yes. After your switch over date, you will only be able to view and respond to new RFQs and POs in Trade Basic.
How much does it cost to change from StartSupplier to Trade Basic?
Nothing. There is no cost to change over to, or to use, Trade Basic.
Just like StartSupplier, Trade Basic is free.
Do I need to download an app to operate Trade Basic on a mobile device?
No, just open your browser and go to Trade. There is no application to download onto your device.
How do I log into the new Trade Basic?
You will need to create an account to access Trade Basic.
Your old StartSupplier log in details will be disabled when you switch over.
How do I set up access to Trade Basic?
First, we'll send you an invite to your trading email. The first user to register will be assigned as an admin. User accounts should be individual professional email addresses, not shared accounts.
Once registered the admin can invite team members and colleagues to join too. Click here for more information on how to invite users.
Will I be able to switch between StartSupplier and Trade Basic?
No. After your switch over date, you will only be able to view and respond to new RFQs and POs in Trade Basic.
Will all features in StartSupplier be available in Trade Basic?
Yes. The core features are primarily the same, but with a few improvements:

Multiple user logins (no shared login)

10MB attachment limit (to receive and to send)
Currently multiple people share the same login. Should we continue to do this in Trade Basic?
No. For better security you should have individual user logins. Click here for more information on how to invite users.
Can you have more than one administrator in Trade Basic?
Yes, you can have as many administrators as you wish. Administrators can invite other administrators and users. User can only invite other users. Click here for more details on user permissions.
How do I upgrade from Trade Basic to Trade Business?

Is Trade Basic just another name for StartSupplier?
Yes, however Trade will no longer be a standalone product instead embedded within the new ShipServ Platform. The main core features are the same, but we’ve made a number of improvements.
Will you be making improvements to Trade Basic over time?
Yes. We'll gather customer feedback and improve the most popular features over time. We endeavour to always put your needs, as the customer, first.
